Installation Instructions for
MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version
If you are
re-installing MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version, you’ll want to uninstall any
previous installations.
To uninstall, do the following:
On Your
Computer:

Click
“Start”, “Control Panel”, and double-click “Add or Remove Programs.”
·
Select
“MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version”
·
Click
the “Remove” button. Click “Yes” at the
confirmation prompt.
To install the MicroFish software, do the
following:
MicroFish Web Site:
1. Go the this
Website: http://www.microfish.org/ and click “Products” on the left-hand menu.
2. Click the link: “MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration
Version”.
3. You’ll be asked enter your name and
e-mail address (at the minimum). Then
click “Continue”.
4. Click another link “MicroFish 3.0
Demonstration Version”, click “Save” and save the file to your
desktop.
5. Click “Close” when the download has
completed.
On Your Computer:
6. On your desktop will be a “zipped
folder” called “MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version.zip”. Double-click that folder.
7. A Windows Explorer dialog box pops
up.
8. On the left side under “Folder Tasks”
click “Extract all files”. (If you don’t
see this prompt, click “Folders” on the Windows Explorer toolbar.)
9. A new, unzipped folder appears
called “MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version”.
Double-click the folder.
10. In the dialog box, double click the
folder “MF 3.0 for Windows (Demo Version, files to be zipped)”.
11. Double-click the “Setup.Exe”
file. At the “File Download – Security
Warning” click “Run”.
12. Following the installation program
instructions, click “Next >”, “Next >”, “Next >”,
“Close”.
13. MicroFish software is now installed
on your computer.
Setting Up a Shortcut on
Your Desktop:
14. Using Windows Explorer, go to the
folder “C:\Program Files\MicroFish\MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version”.
15. Right-click the file “MicroFish3demo.exe”
and click “Create Shortcut”.
16. Drag the newly created shortcut to
the desktop for convenient access to MicroFish.
Testing MicroFish 3.0
Software:
17. Double-click the MicroFish shortcut
to start the MicroFish software.
18. On the MicroFish menu, click “File”
and “Open Data File”.
19. In the “C:\Program
Files\MicroFish\MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version” folder select “sample
fisheries data.txt” and click “Open”.
20. Play around with the software and
explore the options!
21. If everything works well, you can
delete the “MicroFish 3.0 Demonstration Version.zip”
folder on your desktop.
